Benderspink, the production company behind A History Of Violence, The Ring and The Butterfly Effect, have optioned the rights to Black Bull Entertainments two issue comic series The New West by Jimmy Palmiotti and Phil Noto.
Set in a future Los Angeles where an E.M.P. bomb has caused all technology to stop, it follows a former LAPD detective as he attempts to rescue the Mayor's daughter, armed only with a horse and a sword. It sounds a lot like Escape From L.A., but lets hope when it comes to the big screen it will be nothing like that.
This isn't the only comic book adaption Benderspink are developing. They are also working on the long in development Y: The Last Man, another post apocalyptic tale that follows Yorick, the only man left in the world after a plague kills every male on the planet, on a quest to find his girlfriend.
