A C.I.A agent is forced to take charge of a deadly rogue agent when his safe house is compromised, killing all of the other operatives. He then begins a dangerous journey trying to bring his prisoner into custody of his superiors. Ryan Reynolds plays Matt Weston, a good agent stationed in South Africa in charge of a safe house that has seen little or no action in a year. He longs for more responsibility and boy does he get it when public enemy number one arrives in the form of Tobin Frost played by Denzel Washington, legendary C.I.A operative turned mercenary, seemingly intent on selling state secrets and being a general badass. Frost is forced to turn himself in after a transaction involving M.I.6 intelligence and seeks refuge in the U.S Consulate, where he is transported to Weston’s safe house.

It is here when the real action begins amidst much gun fire, breaking glass and explosions. This movie is very much in the vein of the relatively recent Bourne franchise, comparisons are inevitable as it features the C.I.A. Frost’s reputation is deserved as he is both feared and respected by his peers and the criminal underworld. In Weston, there seemingly is no competition as the man who has to bring him in. Ryan Reynolds plays his role superbly and emerges from this with alot of credit, I for one never really took him serious as an actor playing a quite intense and straight role but I was greatly impressed with his persona and there is a good chemistry with Washington’s character. Aided by an able cast in the form of Vera Farmiga and Brendan Gleeson, the movie has plenty of action moments, great car chases and decent dialogue. I do feel Gleeson was perhaps underused but then the same could be said for many of the other actors. This is all about the two leads and what they bring is great to watch, Denzel Washington is as his usual best and plays the action sequences brilliantly.
