Hot on the heels of confirming his role as Hercules for Brett Ratner’s graphic novel adaptation
It has also been reported that Dwayne Johnson is in talks for the lead in upcoming thriller Ciudad, an action movie from Joe and Anthony Russo. The brothers have been working hard on it for some time now it was first announced way back in 2008. It was reported that before a screen adaptation was in the offing they were working on turning into a graphic novel beforehand. While this has taken longer than expected it is still being turned into a movie with The Rock poised for the lead role. Ciudad is set in Paraguay’s Ciudad Del Este, apparently one of the most dangerous cities in the world .Johnson will play a mercenary hostage retrieval expert who is called upon to come to the rescue of a kidnapped daughter of a Brazilian drug baron. “Exploring genre has always been a driving motivation for us as filmmakers,” “This movie is the culmination of a long time ambition to bring our sensibilities to an action thriller,” Said the Russo brothers about the upcoming project.
The film will mark their return to the big screen after the 2006 release of You, Me and Dupree, as ever we’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
