Hoping to follow up his Oscar win for The King's Speech, director Tom Hooper is hard at work on a big screen adaption of long running musical (it has been on stage for 25 years and has racked up over 10,000 performances), Les Miserables, itself based on Victor Hugo's 1862 French Novel. Using the French Revolution as a backdrop, it follows several characters over a seventeen year period, with released convict Jean Valjean's quest for redemption being the main plot thread.
A behind the scenes photo has been released showing Hugh Jack in full costume as Valjean, presumably from the films early scenes. The film also stars Russel Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, and Helena Bonham Carter.
