Iron Man 3
Release date May 2013
What? Another one I hear you say? Yup! Tony Spark is coming back to our big screens May 2013 and this time Director Jon Favreau has been kicked to the kerb. Clearly not close then Robert? BUT the good news is he is being replaced by Shane Black. Responsible for a whole batch of films but the only one you need to know about is Lethal Weapon - the man is clearly a genius. So what to expect from Iron Man 3? Well, rumours surfing the net suggest Mandarin will be arch nemesis in this offering. Seeing as the film will be partly shot in China you can probably go ahead and assume it as fact. Speculation is Ben Kingsley will be playing the part but he ain’t Chinese so am reluctant to take this as gospel. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Mandarin, you’re in for a treat. He is the badass of badasses and likes playing havoc with Tony Spark’s expensive blow up anything and shoot up anything play things. Expect Mr Spark to take a serious ego beating in this movie if the comic books are anything to go by.
Thor 2
Release Date Nov 2013
Well well well, who knew Kim from Home and Away would have such an easy ride in Hollywood. Seriously was he there like 6 months before landing parts left right and centre?? So the last time we left Thor, Jane (Natalie Portman) and the Hammer man himself where all gooey eyed with each other but seeing as she is on earth and he, well, isn’t, relationship seemed pretty doomed, right? WRONG “a lot of Thor 2 is picking up where it left off in terms of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) who you saw for just a moment on the computer monitor, and also what’s been going on in the nine realms without the Asgardians being able to us the Bifrost” The what now? The device that lets them travel between worlds guarded by The Wires Idris Elba – no better man.
Captain America 2
Release date April 2014
Pretty much picks up where the Avengers leaves off. If you remember, Steve Rogers aka Captain America wakes up from a mammoth nap to find himself about 50 years in the future and super late for his date. Not much time to adjust he is thrust into saving the world with the rest of the Avengers, so expect Steve Rogers to have some difficulty getting used to modern life - cue plenty of fish out of water hilarities in this film. Now for my favourite part, the villain! If Christopher Markus (screenwriter) has his way (and please god he is persuasive) MODOK will be in the hot seat for this role. For those of you who don’t know MODOK (acronym for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) is the ugliest thing you will ever see and doesn’t like our hero’s bulging muscles or chiselled face. Originally human he was mutated into a horrific machine/monster both in appearance and attitude. Markus even knows who he wants to play him – Peter Dinklage of Game Of Thrones fame. Plenty to come from this franchise with three films in total scheduled.
Ant Man
Release date 2014 (tbc)
Who? No, Jeff Goldblum isn’t reprising his role from The Fly to become half ant, half man. This is one of Marvels lesser known action hero and the net is swirling with rumours that this will be Marvels next challenge! Story goes as so…. “Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects” If only I could communicate with spiders. PLEASE LEAVE MY HOUSE. Anyway, screenplay has been penned by Joe Cornish (Attack The Block) and Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs The World) and is expected in 2014 also straight after Captain America 2. We wait with baited breath….
