Reprising one his best known role of recent years, Mickey Rourke returns to the big screen as lovable psychotic Marv in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, sequel to the 2005 crime anthology from Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. Acting as a prequel to The Big Fat Kill, the second of the original's three acts, and based on the graphic novel of the same name, the story will see photographer Dwight fall in love with Ava Lord, a turn of events that doesn't sit well with her husband Damien, the richest man in Basin City. When things get hairy, Dwight calls on old pal Marv to act as some much needed muscle.
Other members of the cast returning include Rosario Dawson as working girl Gail, and Michael Madsen as corrupt cop Bob, partner to Bruce Willis' character in the original. Speaking of new cast members being brought, Rodriguez revealed that he originally had Angelina Jolie in mind for Ava, the titular dame, back in 2007 during his first attempt to get the movie made. But he says that for this go around he's starting new casting from square one, "I haven't even gotten to meet with her yet about it or discuss with Frank about who we would want to go with or talk to first. That's a fun process, but that probably won't happen in the next month."
Work will be begin on the sequel after Rodriguez wraps on Machete Kills in the summer, and it is expected to hit cinemas in 2013.
