When Walt Disney purchased Marvel Comics in 2009, it was only a matter of time before any number of the publishers properties would receive the animation treatment from the famous studios. Now that time has come, with Walt Disney Animation announcing they are adapting the little known super hero team Big Hero 6 for the big screen.
Big Hero 6 first appeared in 1998, but have been seldom used since their debut. A government sanctioned super team from Japan, members include 13 year old super genius Hiro and his robot Bymax, Honey Lemon, who can produce any object she wants from a nano-tech handbag, and GoGo Tomago, who transforms herself into a ball of energy. There are two more members, Sunfire and Silver Samurai (who will be the big bad in the upcoming Wolverine sequel), but they are classified as X-Men characters so the rights to them fall to Fox. Other members, such as the Godzilla-like Fred, were added later in the teams history, so there are replacements for these two.
There is very little in the way of details on the project since it has just entered development, but fingers crossed for it to be traditional animation with an anime like style.
