During the MTV Movie Awards over the weekend, eagle eyed viewers spotted something interesting during a skit featuring J.J. Abrams. Behind him, on a video monitor, was a picture of a strange masked character. This was later confirmed by Trek Movie and Hit Fix to be our first official look at Star Trek 2, and that, yes, the franchises most famous alien species, the Klingons, would be making an appearance.
This new masked look for the characters has been seen before, in a deleted scene from Abrams 2009 reboot, and fuels rumors that the director has envisioned a new look for the alien race. Nothing much else has been confirmed about the movie, unsurprising really considering Abrams is famous for keeping details of his projects very close to his chest (the internet is still abuzz with rumor and counter-rumor that Benedict Cumberbatch will play the series' most famous bad guy, Kahn).
The movie is set for release for on the 17th May 2013, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and the most of the original cast being joined by Cumberbatch, Peter Weller and Noel Clarke.
