First appearing in 1958, Paddington Bear, the polite bear from deepest, darkest Peru with a love of marmalade sandwiches, has become a classic character in English children's literature, with his books selling over 30 million copies worldwide, and has become a recognisable character thanks to various cartoons and merchandise licensing.
Now, the bear will be coming to the big screen, with the help of director Paul King, whose big screen debut Bunny And The Bull was endlessly inventive and enjoyable. Considering this and the fact he's best known for directing all three series of T.V. show The Mighty Boosh, he seems like an odd fit for the beloved character, but his visual style will definitely add something special to the movie, which is planned as a mixture of live action and computer generated animation. Nothing else is know about the project, save the script is written by Hamish McColl (Mr. Bean's Holiday).
