Coming off a Palme D'Or nomination at this years Cannes Film Festival, crime drama Lawless has quite a number of talented individuals involved, both in front of and behind the cameras, with director John Hillcoat (The Road), working from a script by Nick Cave, having assembled an impressive cast, including Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, and Shia LaBeouf. O.k, LaBeouf's track record is 50/50 at this stage, but when he is actually called to act, and not react to giant CGI creations chasing him, he can be quite good.
From the trailer below, it looks fantastic. The prohibition era setting is nicely realised, and it promises some great performances, especially from Hardy and Pearce, who I hope keeps his awesome grimace for the entirety of the movie.
