Twilight and Harry Potter star Robert Pattinson is continuing his journey away from the mainstream market after agreeing to appear in a futuristic western The Rover for Animal Kingdom director David Michod.
Michod made his directorial debut in 2010, Animal Kingdom the story of a family of gangsters in Melbourne who take in their cousin who has been recently orphaned. The Rover, which is set in the Australian desert of the not too distant future, will also star Guy Pearce who previously also appeared in Animal Kingdom, he plays a man who hunts down a gang of thieves that stole his car.
Pattinson, who recently won much praise for his role in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, will play the brother of one of the thieves, who gets left behind when a run in with the police goes wrong.
Unfortunately for the star the news coincided with some unwelcome news about his Twilight co star Kristen Stewart Pattinson and Stewart are one of Hollywood’s most high profile couples in Hollywood. The Twilight franchise has so far have taken more than $2.5bn at the box office
