Ok, ok…its a bit less dramatic than that. But the uber talented director will not be directing Cleopatra as talks have broken off between Sony and Fincher, hence the divorce headline (go on punch the screen). Sony are now looking for other candidates (I’m free) and Ang Lee is rumoured to amongst the worthy. The Cleopatra movie is trying to get off the ground since 2010, and is based on the Stacy Schiff book, you know that Stac Schiff, the Pulitzer price winning biographer. James Cameron was on the cards momentarily as was Paul Green Grass.
Given Cleopatra had quite the lifestyle, the movie, when ever it arrives on the big screen will surely be vast and visually amazing. When you think about the last queen of Egypt, imagine lots of gold, civil war and marrying your brother…twice. From the visual style alone, I’d certainly throw Zach Snyder into the mix and even Oliver Stone. What do YOU think?
