Originally called 300: The Battle Of Arthemisia, the follow-up to Zach Snyder's hyper-stylised 300 is getting a name change. Already two months into production, the film will now be known as 300: Rise Of An Empire, and serves as both a sequel and prequel. On one hand, it tells the story of the Battle of Arthemesium, a navel battle that happened simultaneously to the Spartan's stand against the Persian's from the first film, while also delving into the history of the 'God King' Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), leader of the Persian empire.
Director Noam Murro (Smart People) replaces Snyder at the helm, with Eva Green and Sullivan Stapleton heading the cast.
