Cast your minds back a few years ago when the plot for Taken was announced, Liam Neeson in an action style movie? At his age? Really? Well the Irishman proved many doubters wrong and turned in a fine performance in what was a well received movie. In my mind he could have played Bond in the pre-Daniel Craig era. Taken 2 sees Neeson returning beating up the bad guys intent on revenge for the mess he created in the first instalment. Irish audiences will no doubt lap it up and it is hard not to see our Liam doing well in the sequel, however the star is certain that there will be no more of the story even if the upcoming release does well at the box office. In an interview with Empire he had this to say:
"I don't see it, I don't think it's going to happen. I really don't. I can't see a possible scenario where audiences wouldn't go, 'Oh, come on...! She's taken again?”
That will probably be welcome considering that audiences have been sceptical about a sequel despite the fact that Taken was a definite hit and relaunched Neeson again in the action guy role. Of course at the end of the first film we saw his daughter Kim played by Maggie Grace being introduced into a possible singing career which opened possibilities about future plots. This seemed to have been missed by the star himself as he offered an alternative plot by joking:
“I'd forgotten all about that. Taken 5: Kim's First Concert."
Taken 2 is hitting Irish screens in October and as ever we’ll have the full review.
