The first english language movie from Chan-wook Park, Stoker promises to be the kind of psychological thriller you would expect from the director of Oldboy and Thirst. Written by actor Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), the movie revolves around India Stoker (Mia Wasikowska), who is taken in, along with her deeply damaged mother (Nicole Kidman), by her mysterious Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode) after the death of Mia's father. She soon suspects that he has ulterior motives, while at the same time becoming increasingly infatuated with him.
I will admit to not having heard anything about this movie before seeing the trailer. After watching it, I actually can't wait to see the finished product. Park is a fantastic director, and he seems to be bringing his A game with this. Add to that the promise of great performances, especially from Kidman, this has jumped very high up on my must watch list.
