X-Men Fans! Get excited!! Having got the ball rolling with X-Men, and giving us the perfect comic book movie with X-Men 2 (yes, I put it before Avengers and Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy), Bryan Singer is returning to direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The follow up to X-Men: First Class, Singer will take the reins from previous director Matthew Vaughn, who is expected to sign as producer, Singer's role on the previous film.
I am over the moon about this. You only have to see the difference in tone between The Last Stand, of which Singer had no involvement, and First Class, he wrote the treatment aswell as producing, to understand the love and respect he has for the property. An adaption of the classic comic book story, Days Of Future Past concerns a dark future where mutants are outlaws, and one lone mutant who is sent back in time to stop it from happening. Production starts in January of next year, with much of the First Class cast returning. Rumours persist that actors from the original trilogy, such as Patrick Stewart and Famke Janssen, will also return, playing their characters in the future sequences.
