Despite having David Fincher as producer, the movie adaption of a Eric Powell's acclaimed, irreverent comic book has been a tough sell for the big hollywood studios, who see a R-rated animated movie full of zombies, monsters and killer robots as untouchable. Blur Studios and Dark Horse Entertainment have been championing their movie for years, creating their own test reels showing, featuring Clancy Brown (a personal hero of mine ever since he played The Kurgan in Highlander) and Paul Giamatti voicing The Goon and his insane best friend Franky, what the concept has to offer.
But now, they are trying another approach. Letting the public decide if they want see The Goon on the big screen, they have started a campaign on the crowd funding site Kick Starter to raise enough money to get the movie into production. Watch their impassioned plea below, and check out the details here.
