The rumour’s started floating quite a while ago when Jonathan Ross teased Adele about recording the title track for Skyfall. And now, it’s all go. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, besides the outstanding voice of Adele, she’s also accompanied by a 77 piece orchestra. So, take a listen below to a 90 second preview, and I’ll think you’ll agree it’s rather brilliant. Bit of an old school Bond feel to it as well. And speaking about the theme song, Adele says that she was a little hesitant at first to be involved with Bond.
"I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for 'Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I’m sure!”
Columbia Records has also confirmed that she'll premiere Skyfall globally via her official site on Thursday at 7:07 p.m. ET (12:07AM GMT Fri). The track (availabe for pre-order now) will be available to purchase as a download immediately after this premiere. And that ties in rather nicely with the 50th anniversary of the theatrical release of the very first big screen Bond,Dr. No.
