Robocop release date put back until 2014

I had a feeling the August 9th, 2013 release date for Jose Padhila's Robocop would be changed, mainly because it's still in production, and I imagine post-production effects work on a movie like this would be killer. But it's only a delay of six months, with the new release date being 7th February, 2014, not quite the summer blockbuster slot it originally had. This might also give the movie some time to address some issues fans of the original movies are already having with the remake, mainly the redesign of the title hero.

Faced with a space in their summer schedule, Sony have wasted no time filling it, moving Neil Blomkamp's sci-fi thriller Elysium, starring Matt Damon, Sharlto Copely, and Jodie Foster, from March 1st  to the vacant August slot.

Synopsis: The year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
