To be honest, I can’t be really arsed writing much of a review for Taken 2. Simply because the movie itself, couldn’t be arsed to be much of a movie. That’s fair isn’t it?
Liam Neeson returns and instead of his daughter getting kidnapped, he gets kidnapped along with his wife. His kidnappers consist of a bunch of uncles, fathers, brothers and cousins twice removed who all are grieving for the loss of their fallen family members, who Neeson disposed of in the original movie. So, more kidnapping, except with that ingenious role reversal.
Neeson is Neeson, who really now has joined the ranks of Schwarzenegger, Willis and Stone to a degree. You just know what to expect. Nothing wrong with his performance, he runs around, shoots people, punches people etc. Just like last time. Granted he is hugely watchable. Supporting cast don't really do much, and I can’t be arsed to type up their names. Just like the movie can’t be arsed.
The original Taken was quite the sleeper hit. It was gritty, intense and above all highly entertaining. This time round though, with the exception of Neeson it’s bland, boring and there isn’t one memorable scene in the entire 90 minutes. And as for the finale itself? That can’t be arsed either.
Overall, if you fancy getting “taken” for a ride, albeit an incredibly unmemorable one, this is the movie for you. Granted you probably like the sound of farting into an empty bucket. Everybody else…ah what the hell. I can’t be arsed. JUST LIKE THE MOVIE!!!!
