Things are coming together for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with it's eye on a May 2nd 2014 release date, and we now have movement on the villain front, with Jamie Foxx in talks to play the movie's big bad, electricity controlling Electro. The character first appeared way back in 1964, and was considered once before for the big screen, way back when James Cameron was attached to Spider-Man. No doubt the casting of Foxx for a character that has always been portrayed as caucasian will ruffle a few fanboy feathers (having been ruffled before with the casting of Idris Elba and Michael Clarke Duncan in Thor and Daredevil, respectively), but who cares! Foxx is a fantastic actor, and should elevate the character, who I feel is pretty one note in the comics. If the actor agrees to the role, he will join the returning Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, as well as joining other newcomer Shailene Woodley, who will be playing Mary Jane Watson.
Nothing much is known about the story of the sequel, though there are rumours it will answer questions set up in the first movie, such as what happen to Peter's parents, and the origins of the spiders which gave him his powers.
