It seems every week since the announcement of Disney moving forward with Stars Wars: Episode VII, new nuggets of information have been dropped. But this latest piece of news has me positively giddy. We already know Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt will pen the new movie, but what of the other movies that will make up this new trilogy? Well, it has been confirmed that script writers Simon Kinberg (Mr. and Mrs. Smith) and Lawrence Kasdan (The Bodyguard) have been brought on to write and produce Episodes VIII and IX. While this doesn't seem like a big deal, it is worth noting that Kasdan had a hand in writing the final two parts of the original trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back (considered by many fans to be the best of the entire saga) and Return Of The Jedi. Those are some very impressive Star Wars credentials.
Still in development, it will be a while yet till we see any real movement on this new trilogy. But so far, everything points to Disney treating this with the respect it deserves. No doubt this will please the Star Wars fans (of which there are MANY) no end.
