We quite liked Sinister here at The Movie Bit, it was a good, solid horror movie with some genuine scares, but it seems alot of French audiences won't be able to enjoy the movie thanks to, well....... I'll let this official statement (translated from French) form the movies distributors, Wild Bunch, explain it:
Some cinemas experienced some problems last weekend with the audience for Paranormal Activity 4 – confectionery counters were looted, cashiers were insulted, seats were urinated on, etc. – as a result, more than 40 previously confirmed cinemas have simply canceled their bookings of Sinister this week.
As cinema going experiences go, that is pretty bad. While I didn't overly enjoy Paranormal Activity 4, I wouldn't go as far as peeing in the cinema to show my distain for it. Maybe these audiences know something I don't. This isn't the first time the movie has made the news in a bad way. Just last month, a cinema in England played the opening scenes of the film, instead of the scheduled Madagascar 3, to a screen full of kids. Consider the opening scenes feature a bloodied body being thrown towards the camera, lets just say it didn't go down to well with the parents present.
