It is the biggest movie story of the year, if not the decade. A new trilogy of Star Wars movies. For whatever reason, like being in a coma, living under a rock etc. if you missed this, read the full coverage here. Now though, who is going to write it? Well, even months before Disney purchased Lucasfilm Michael Arndt was hired to writer a 40-50 page treatment. Arndt has quite the successful filmography behind him including Toy Story 3 and an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine. He’s been involved in the movie business in various capacities for quite some time, not only as a script reader but he was also a personal assistant to Matthew Broderick, until late 1999. At that point he started writing screenplays. And if more rumours are to be believed, his treatment includes Han Solo, Leia and Luke!
A treatment is one thing, but what about an actual screenplay? Well, it is quite likely that he will be asked to type up one of those as well. Watch this space!
