It was inevitable since Lance Armstrong's "confession" on television with Oprah that a movie would be in the works at some stage. Reports suggest that JJ Abrams' project has been interested in Bradley Cooper in the lead role as the disgraced former cylist.
Abrams was quoted as saying:
“[Cooper] sent me an email and we've been talking" Cooper himself when talking to the BBC News had this to say: "I think he's fascinating, What a fascinating character.”
The movie is to be based on Cycle of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong,
a book proposal by Juliet Macur a New York Times sportswriter.
Macur has followed the cyclist for ten years which covers the period when Armstrong was at his height in popularity while behind the scenes being involved in a secret doping campaign fuelling his triumphs.
Bearing in mind Macur's book is unlikely to show Armstrong in a sympathetic light it should make for gritty viewing and give something for Cooper to get his teeth into.
