John Constatine. The Demon. Swamp Thing. The Spectre. Zantana. Zatara. Deadman. Chances are most people will know one, maybe two, of these DC Comics characters. Well, prepare to get to know all of these and more from the supernatural side of the DC stable now that Guillermo Del Toro has signed on to bring them to the big screen with Dark Universe. Similar to the comic book Justice League Dark, the movie will see these second and third tier characters team up to battle supernatural threats to the world, with plenty of magic and scares along for the ride.
The project is currently in development, with Del Toro teaming up with a mystery writer to bring it to life. I am beyond excited for this. With Hellboy and Blade 2, he proved he can absolutely nail a comic book adaption, and this concept is right up his alley. Hell, I would love to see him tackle The Demon, an actual demon who trades places in hell with his human host to battle evil on earth, on his own. Hopefully Dark Universe goes ahead without a hitch.
