With the fact that Skyfall sailed past the billion mark, the first Bond movie to do so, it was understandable that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli would want Sam Mendes to step in again as director for the next installment. But Mendes has revealed that he will not be returning for the 24th Bond film, saying, "It has been a very difficult decision Michael and Barabara's generous offer to direct the next Bond movie. Directing Skyfall was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have Theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond." While he won't be back for the next film, he doesn't rule out doing a Martin Campbell (who directed both Golden Eye and Casino Royale) either, returning to the franchise at a later time.
success of Skyfall, will be no easy feat. With the movie set for release next year, the search is now on.
