Filming has begun on the sequel to reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), replacing the originals Rupert Wyatt, has tweeted the first behind the scenes picture, featuring star Andy Serkis decked out in his motion capture gear talking to new comer Jason Clarke. The picture also confirms that horseback will return as the apes preferred mode of transport.
Set fifteen years after the first movie, the sequel sees Caesar (Serkis) as the leader of a growing nation of gentically evolved apes, forging a fragile peace with a group of human surviviors of a devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. Unforunately, this peace proves short lived, and both groups are brought to the brink of war. Caesar also gets a love interest in the form of female ape Cornelia, played by Judy Greer, with Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, and Kodi Smith-McPhee also among the cast.
