Based on the 1853 autobiography of freed slave Solomon Northrup, Hunger and Shame director Steve McQueen lends his unique style and vision to Twelve Years a Slave, which follows Northrup's (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) twelve years in captivity, from his abduction and selling into slavery, to his eventual meeting a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) who changes his life forever. Mcqueen staple, Micheal Fassbender, is on hand in a rare bad guy role as Northrup's malevolent owner, with the cast being rounded up by Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, and Ruth Negga (who will next be seen alongside Pitt in World War Z). USA Today have the first images from the project, which, if it is anything like Mcqueen's other works, will definitely be one to watch out for.
