My usual 530am alarm clock call went off as I sat up in the bed, minutes before the impending beeping, holding an iPad that had James Gandolfini trending all over twitter. Within seconds I realised T was no more. “Christ” I exclaimed loudly, waking up the wife. 20 minutes later, I crawled out of bed in absolute shock.
The actor who personified greatness blew everybody away in The Sopranos and countless movies, has died. Cause of death is unknown, but some news outlets are saying he may have suffered a heart attack.
But we need to back to 1993 to Tony Scott’s True Romance, thats where Gandolfini first really came to prominence as tough guy Virgil. Countless roles and 6 years later, Tony Soprano would emerge as one of televisions greatest characters.
It’s with a heavy heart I write this as The Sopranos is my all time favourite television show.
