It was to be expected that when two studios, in this case Marvel and Fox, have the rights to the same characters, that they won't play nice. Which is why we are getting two different versions of the same character, Quicksilver (real name: Pietro Maximoff), in both X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Avengers 2. It's a strange occurrence, coming about by the character and his sister, The Scarlet Witch (or Wanda to her friends), being important and long standing members of The Avengers, while they actually made their first appearance in X-Men as villain, alongside their father, the X-Men's nemesis Magneto. So they have important ties to both properties, hence their rights being split.
While Joss Whedon made known first that they would be appearing in the sequel to his blockbuster superhero team up (along with his sister), Bryan Singer's return to the X-Men universe is actually getting out of the traps first, with the super speedy mutant being played Evan Peters (best known for t.v. show American Horror Story). And, as he has being doing through the movies shoot, Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter to tease more behind the scenes images, this time teasing Quicksilver's appearance with a shot of the Maximoff home, complete with personalised mail box. While it hasn't being talked about (to our knowledge anyway), their might be a chance Wanda might make an appearance as well.
X-Men: days of Future past, which sees the cast of prequel X-Men: First Class and the original movie team up through the wonders of time travel is released on May 23rd 2014.
