No! No! No! Christian Bale will not star as caped crusader in the forthcoming Justice League movie. The Dark Knight star hasn’t been involved in official talks telling EW “I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it. It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”
Now all that said, Bale has never dismissed entirely, another Batman movie. In May last year the actor told Empire magazine “My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it's appropriate, I think it's going out at the right time. But ... if Chris came to me with a script and said, 'You know what? There is another story' then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work."
And take it back even further and Bale wasn’t entirely sure about a third Batman movie, speaking to Total Film he said ““Will we do a third movie? It’s got to be the right story. You can’t make something like ‘The Dark Knight‘ and then come out with something disappointing.I would like it if people say, ‘You’ll never make a good third movie.’ I say, ‘OK, let’s make a third movie in that case, let’s prove them wrong. But that’s just me. The fact is, I have to! I’ve signed up! Chris [Nolan] doesn’t. So I’m in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn’t want to!”
So the moral of this article? Don’t rule anything out, especially with Nolan well and truly embedded in the Warner Bros. camp.
