In recent years, Fox have made known their intentions to make a shared universe for their Marvel properties, X-Men and the Fantastic Four, similar to the way Marvel Studios has weaved their magic with The Avengers. They have already tried their hand at this, bringing together the cast of the original X-Men movies and prequel First Class for next Summer's Days of Future Past, and they are at it again, with news that they are planning an adaption of spin-off, X-Force. Long time X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner is producing the movie, with Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow been signed on to write the script. Wadlow is also on the short list to direct. There is no word on how the movie will come about, but it is safe to assume Days of Future Past will plant the seeds, especially since Warpath, a founding member of X-Force, is said to appear.
First appearing in 1991, X-Force began as The New Mutants, the next generation of X-Men, who adopted a more aggressive and militaristic attitude, nurtured by the time traveller Cable, to the X-Men, eventually becoming outlaws. The comic has been rebooted several times, most recently as a black-ops branch of the X-Men. At the moment, both iterations of the group exist as Uncanny X-Force and Cable and X-Force.
