With a planned release date of July 11 2014, James Wan's installment of the long running Fast & Furious franchise is gearing up for start of production next month, meaning casting is winding up with Kurt Russell in talks to star in the franchise's seventh offering. There's no word on who the character is, other than the role was originally offered to Denzel Washington. If Russell agrees, he will be joining the franchise's regulars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Tyrese Gibson, as well as newcomers Ronda Rousey (a UFC star who will also be seen in The Expendables 3), Ong-Bak's Tony Jaa, and Jason Statham, teased in the cliff hanger of Fast & Furious 6 as Ian Shaw, the brother of Chris Evan's villain from that movie.
Nothing much is known of the story, other than the action will return to Los Angeles, with Statham instigating a revenge plot against our favorite high speed thieves for the events of the sixth movie.
