Originally set to be released on June 10th 2015, slap bang in the middle of, frankly, the most ridiculously packed Summer ever, Disney have announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, from Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), won't make it's pencilled in release date. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said filming is being delayed because of script issues, with Disney understandably cautious of their billion dollar franchise after the commercial failure of The Lone Ranger, a movie we quite enjoyed here at The Movie Bit. Time is being taken to get everything about the movie absolutely right, and, while not set in stone, it is expected to see the light of day in the Summer of 2016.
But don't worry about Disney, with Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode VII, Pixar's Inside Out, and the start of Marvel Studio's Phase Three, Ant-Man, all slated for Summer 2015, I think they'll be just fine.
