Hitting the big screen on July 31st 2015, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man has a lot of eyes on it at the moment, every faint rumbling from the project been pounced on at a moments notice. Following a production still two weeks ago, the latest news, revealed by Variety is that the role of the size changing hero is down to two actors, Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, two very interesting choices which follow Marvel's tradition of casting a bit out of left field. Well, Levitt maybe was expected, just down to his popularity, but I would never have thought of Rudd in a superhero role. The trade goes onto say that there is a possibility that a third actor may emerge, but at the moment it is down to these two. We don't know what the script for the movie, which Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish were approached to write over seven years ago, entails, but knowing Wright there should be a healthy dollop of comedy mixed in with the heroics, which would suit both these actors down to the ground. I personally think Rudd would be a better fit. I feel he has more likable presence, and would have a lot more fun in the role.
This isn't the first Marvel role Levitt has been attached to, with the actor's name been in contention for Guardians of the Galaxy, for the role that ultimately went to Chris Pratt, and Doctor Strange, which is still in it's scripting stage. It's clear Marvel Studio's really want to work with the actor, so if he doesn't get this part, don't be surprised to see him in another Marvel movie.
