It turns out even an icon of the big screen isn't safe from being exploited by Hollywood decades after its release, with It's a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story being revealed to be in development. Frank Capra's original is an undeniable classic, that, don't lie, you will have seen at least once in your life, and even though it was released in 1946, this still feels like a cash grab. The story of the sequel will follow the original quite closely, with George Bailey's daughter Zuzu (again played by Karolyn Grimes), now an angel, who must show Bailey's unlikeable grandson how much better the world would be if he was never born.
Casting decisions for the movie won't be made till February, with the movie pencilled for release during the holiday season of 2015. Most likely the desired effect of the movie would be to envoke the Christmas spirit in people, but I have a feeling that if whole cash grabby aspect of it still continues to come through, it will do the exact opposite.
