UPDATED 30/12/13
You can now listen to the whole Movie Of The Year show on the podcast – Click here
Running since the beginning of December, our annual Movie Of The Year poll has now closed. And without messing about with long winded intros and the likes, I’m proud to announce that, Gravity is The Movie Of The Year, as voted for by you!
This was a very tight race for the top two positions in particular. Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained (which wasn’t released in Ireland and the UK until January this year) certainly made an impact with voters as it featured strongly from the outset. But ultimately it was Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity that knocked Django off his horse, taking 12.75% of the votes. So, congrats to Gravity, a movie that has resonated with audiences and proving that it was not just one of the movies of the year, but the movie of the year, as decided by you lovely readers.
So thats it for another year. We’ll put the Movie Of The Year Poll away in the attic, next to the Christmas tree and the 48 pairs of unwanted socks!
Thanks again for voting and as always, thanks for reading! By the way, the full podcast of the Movie Of The Year special, as heard on Cork’s RedFM will be available shortly!
