This is really fantastic news for who is genuinely one of the nicest and most humblest guys I’ve ever had the pleasure to interview. Gerard Barrett's second feature film, Glassland, after last years award winning debut PILGRIM HILL starts shooting on Jan 8th in Dublin. The cast includes Jack Reynor, fresh off Michael Bay's TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION opposite Mark Wahlberg and the critically acclaimed Irish film WHAT RICHARD DID directed by Lenny Abrahamson. Joining Reynor is Emmy and Golden Globe award winning actress Toni Collette (most recently seen in ENOUGH SAID and THE WAY, WAY BACK), Will Poulter (WE'RE THE MILLERS, CHRONICLES OF NARNIA) and Michael Smiley (A FIELD IN ENGLAND, KILL LIST)
Set in Dublin GLASSLAND tells the story of a young taxi driver (Reynor) who gets tangled up in the world of human trafficking while trying to save his mother (Collette) from addiction.
GLASSLAND is written and directed by Barrett and produced by Ed Guiney (FRANK, WHAT RICHARD DID, THE GUARD) and Juliette Bonass (GET UP AND GO) for Element Pictures in association with Nine Entertainment. The film is financed by the Irish Film Board and Element Pictures Distribution who will handle the film in the UK and Ireland. Executive producer is Andrew Lowe.
Gerard Barrett feels "incredibly privileged to get the opportunity to work with this fine group of international actors on GLASSLAND. I look forward to collaborating with them all individually in bringing our story to life on the screen."
