There has been a lot of movement on Alan Taylor's upcoming Terminator reboot in the last week or so. First up, it was revealed that the title would be Terminator: Genesis. Then, casting rumours surfaced suggesting that the role of Sarah Connor was down to Game of Throne's Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson (21 Jump Street, Don Jon). In fact, all the casting up until now seemed to focus on Sarah Connor (we knew since the announcement of the project earlier this that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be returning), but now a front runner has emerged for the role of her son, and savior of the human race, John Connor. It is being reported that Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, and next years Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is in early talks to take the role. If he signs on the dotted line, he joins Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl, and Christian Bale in bringing the role to the big screen. Filming is set to begin next month, so expect to hear confirmation on all the cast very soon.
Terminator: Genesis is set for release July 1st 2015.
