While that title won't mean much to most people, those who know their Sunfire from their Sunspot will have had quite the squee moment, myself included. While unconfirmed (but how could it not be him? Singer is too immersed in the X-Men world to throw that name around willy nilly), the new film promise to finally introduce Apocalypse, the fearsome villain who has made quite an impact on the X-Men since his introduction in 1986. Over 5000 years old, his powers range from shape changing to telepathy, with immortality thrown in for good measure (he is shown to be the ruler of an unspecified future). He's been the focus of many major story lines over the years, the biggest of which was 1995's Age of Apocalypse, a mega event which saw the entire X-Men line put on hold, and replaced with books set in a dark present where he ruled. Time travel played a big part in that, as it does in most of Apocalypse's appearances, so expect the seeds for the just announced sequel to be sown in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
