My jaw is still on the floor with this one. Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his apartment in Greenwich Village. A personal assistant found his body at 1130am (EST). The actor was found with a needle in his arm and according to law enforcement sources, heroin was also found in the apartment. That doesn’t say that Hoffman was using, but these are reports that are coming from the scene currently. Some reports are more dramatic than others with the Daily Mail writing that he was surrounded by bags of heroin. Tragically though, all signs are pointing to an apparent drugs overdose.
The Academy Award winning actor has struggled with drug addiction in the past and reportedly had checked himself into rehab in May 2013 for heroin abuse after 23 years of being clean. He is survived by his partner Mimi O'Donnell, and their three children, daughters Tallulah and Willa and son Cooper.
