Released in 2012, Sinister was an immensely effective horror movie, coming from the always reliable Blumhouse Productions, starring Ethan Hawke as a novelist investigating a strange murder that took place in his new home. Since it pocketed over $77 million in the world wide box office, off a budget of $3 million, a sequel was always on the cards. Now, the original's director, Scott Derrickson, took to Twitter to announce that the project is going ahead, and a director has been found in the form of Ciaran Foy, who was responsible for the critically acclaimed Irish horror Citadel. Nothing else is known of the project, other than Derrickson will once again write the script with co-writer C. Robert Cargill. Production is set to begin in July.
Foy really showed he had a talent for the genre with Citadel, and I am excited to see what he can do with the follow-up to one of the most effective horrors of recent years.
