“Something we’ve observed in the past 22 years, is that a bad idea will be repeated if there’s money to be made.” That statement could be about many Hollywood productions, but those are the words of Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow (referencing the story), when asked how significant that Jurassic World is set 22 years after the first Jurassic Park. On those comments alone, we should expect a bigger and more dangerous theme park with dinosaurs rampaging around the pace.
But Trevorrow isn’t that forthcoming in the latest edition of Empire magazine. He says he doesn’t want to lie to his audience, as attempts to shield audiences from having too many surprises ruined, filmmakers have started to be dishonest and he doesn’t want to be a part of that.
Speaking about Chris Pratt’s and Bryce Dallas Howard’s characters, he adds, that for him, the movie is about how they are interacting with the dinosaurs and he expands on that slightly by saying “Yes, we have a big, bad new dinosaur, but that dinosaur is the result of not just man’s hubris but man’s curiosity and desire to entertain.”
And as for a villain, besides the dinosaurs, expect to see B.D. Wong back on screen as Dr. Wu (he was the scientist seen during the raptor birth in the original Jurassic Park) and Trevorrow expects that audiences will have to decide for themselves if he's a hero or a villain, as Dr. Wu sees himself as the hero and thinks its all a great idea.
So, there's quite a bit to take in, but how about that “new” dinosaur? Thats the real interesting part of all this, and if there is a new bad ass dino that no doubt the plot will revolve around in its finale (I’m thinking out loud here people) can we expect to see some old favourites like the T-Rex or will it be an entire new cast of dinosaurs. Watch this space!
