Its a given that we will see a bunch of old characters (in more ways than one) return to the big screen. While Luke, Han and Leia are more than likely to make some appearance on December 18th 2015, you won’t be seeing Lando Calrissian. Billy Dee Williams told TMZ that he’d do the movie if they’d ask. He also seemed to be quite unaware of whats going on with Episode VII. That said, he did mention that he’d expect Lando to turn up at some point. Does Cloud City’s finest resident know something we don’t. Has he let the cat out of the bag? Sadly, I don’t think so.
Ultimately the Star Wars franchise is moving on. I’d expect J.J. Abrams to provide plenty of fan service next December, but after that does the Star Wars universe really have a place for the characters that made it famous?
