Hollywood has lost a true acting legend with the passing of Mickey Rooney at the age of 93. He was said to have had a long battle with illness. The pint sized actor made his screen debut aged 6 in the 1927 silent movie Orchids and Ermine as a sauve midget. This would catapult his decade spanning career, which saw him become a massive box office draw in the 30's and 40's, with over two hundred movies under his belt, eight marriages, four Oscar nominations, and two honorary Oscars, a juvenile award in 1938, and one in recognition of his body of work in 1982. Fully embracing his motto of "I don't retire, I inspire", Rooney kept on working to this day, making a cameo (one that delighted me no end) in 2011 in The Muppets. The thoughts of everybody here at The Movie Bit are with his friends and family at this tragic time.
