Echoing the strong female characters of Luc Besson's other works, like La Femme Nikita and The Fifth Element, Scarlett Johansson steps in front of the camera for the French director as the titular Lucy. A reluctant drug mule, Lucy develops extra human powers, from telekinesis to clairvoyance, after one of the designer drugs enters her system. Seeking revenge on those who wronged her, Lucy finds herself losing her emotions as her powers continue to evolve. The extremely interesting premise aside, there is a lot to like about Lucy. The trailer shows Besson still has a grasp of the fantastic visuals which made his name, and Johansson offers a much darker take on the ass kicking female lead she has become known for.
