Not so long ago we wrote about the brilliant Gareth Edwards getting a gig directing one of three Star Wars spin off movies. And now, another director has been announced for the second spin off movie. Chronicle’s Josh Trank is off to a galaxy, far, far away. The director was welcomed into the Lucasfilm family by Kathleen Kennedy "We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”
A few comments were from Josh Trank were also featured on the press release with the director stating "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood, the opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."
Before Trank gets aboard the good space ship Lucasfilm, he’s currently beavering away with the Fantastic Four reboot. As of yet there is still no release dates available for any of these spin offs, but expect the first one in 2017, or at a major push if you believe the whole a new Star Wars movie every year, late 2016. The Fantastic Four reboot is currently pencilled in for June next year and the sequel (yes, there is a sequel by all accounts) is planned for 2017, with Trank rumoured to direct. So, it definitely won’t be the first spin off that’ll he direct .Who or what these spin offs will feature is like the release dates. We have no real clue, although a Boba Fett spin off has been heavily rumoured, as has a Han Solo tale.
Anyways, watch this space!
