Containing elements from The Hunger Games and Divergent, even though the book on which it is based was written long before they were both a reality, The Giver imagines a world where society has eradicated all emotion and individuality, and only The Giver (Jeff Bridges) remembers what life used to be like. While many will roll their eyes at the another YA adaption set in a dystopian future, this new trailer suggest director Philip Noyce (Salt, Patriot Games) has something a lot smarter and deeper up his sleeve. The use of black and white is a really nice touch, and there is a good cast, including Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift. Check it out below.
