Based on the book A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin, Mr. Holmes finds the literary world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, in the twilight of his years, and I can't think of a better actor to play the aging sleuth than Ian McKellen. Directed by Bill Condon (his second time working McKellen since Gods and Monsters), filming is set to begin in the U.K. in the coming days, and the plot will see the detective, now 93 and retired, tackling an unsolved case from his past. McKellen has taken to Twitter to give us our first look at him in the role, where he definitely looks the part.
